94 pixels per degree

The study “Resolution limit of the eye: how many pixels can we see?” by Maliha Ashraf (University of Cambridge), Alexandre Chapiro (Meta) and Rafał Mantiuk (University of Cambridge) provides new insights into the limits of our vision. The research team measured how many pixels the human eye can actually distinguish and arrived at about 94 pixels per degree at the center of the visual field. The paper shows that current 4K displays already practically exhaust our visual acuity, and higher resolutions are unlikely to look noticeably better.
