Das Whitepaper »Quantencomputing und die Hightech Agenda Deutschland« von QED untersucht den Stand der staatlich geförderten Quantencomputer-Entwicklung. Die Hightech Agenda Deutschland setzt auf drei Technologieplattformen, nämlich Supraleiter, Ionenfallen und Neutralatome, und will damit bis 2030 mindestens zwei fehlerkorrigierte Quantencomputer auf europäischem Spitzenniveau ermöglichen. Die Kernaussage fällt nüchtern aus. Keine der Plattformen ist bislang marktreif, kommerzielle Tragfähigkeit fehlt, und die Erwartungen industrieller Anwender werden noch nicht erfüllt. Bis Quantencomputer praktisch nutzbar sind, braucht es weiterhin erheblichen Forschungs- und Entwicklungsaufwand.
